The MHS Jazz band offers MHS students the opportunity to explore the only musical art form that is native to our country. Following the audition process, selected students rehearse Monday and Thursday at 3:30-4:30pm. Students are exposed to large ensemble literature as well as solo and improvisation study. Students are also afforded to opportunity to perform along side profession jazz musicians from the area at the annual Steak & Jazz event that is held in conjunction with the Sesser High School Jazz band. In addition to contest and festival participation, the MHS Jazz Band will perform 10-12 times locally each year.
