JAZZ BAND

Jazz Band is a curricular-based ensemble class offered to students at Murphysboro High School. Students who take Jazz Band class explore the only musical art form that is native to our country. Students are exposed to large ensemble literature, as well as improvisational solo study. Students are also afforded the opportunity to perform alongside professional jazz musicians from the area at the annual Jazz & BBQ event that is held in conjunction with the Murphysboro Middle School Jazz Band. In addition to IHSA Organizational Contest and festival participation, the Jazz Band will perform 10-12 times locally each year.
